John G. Avildsen

I majored in film in college and had the nerve to tell his nephew Chris when we were working on a low budget film that his uncle (who recently won the Academy Award!) that he should view my senior project.. he did and had his office call me .. I worked on many projects in the early 80´s the coolest was the project with Jacques D´Amboise of ABT .. on teaching inner city kids to dance we had Barishnakov and Judy Collins at that shoot .. he was fun funny serious creative (anyone remember that his ceiling on the 40th floor of his apartment was painted with the Milky Way Galaxy??) he always made everyone feel so comfortable the grips the crew well he was known to break union rules and run around with a light etc ... see ya in heaven John blessed with 4 beautiful children I know miss him tremendously... I was the still photographer on the kids dance project let me see if I can find the photos.., Bonnie

John had a way of pulling the best work out of me , he was demanding and knew what he wanted, I thank him for his direction

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Ash and family. I know that my son, Daniel McBride, is so grateful to work with Ash and Sumerian Records and know that John's legacy lives on through Ash to inspire his generation with talent and all of the attributes of his father!

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.

Mr. Avildsen's films brimmed over with heart and courage while addressing the human condition and the search for love, worthwhile accomplishment, and courage. No doubt these, too, were the values that drove his own life and soul. Just saw "Lean on Me" to add to memories of enjoyable, important motion pictures.

To The Advildse Family,
I am truly so sorry to hear that we have lost a finest director like John Advildsen who has past away, it was sad when i heard the news, i do believe that everyone is mourning the death of him. Also, thanks for the memories that you share with us like a finest movie maker that were, along that he won a Academy Award, Oscar award for best directing movie for "Rocky", i do remember watching Rocky when i was growing up along with 5 more of the "Rocky" movies, we could still catch the movie of "Rocky" on AMC channel. May you cherish the loving memories of your beloved father John in your heart, where every you go. My thoughts, prayers are with ADVILDSEN FAMILY during this most difficult time.
