John Robert Baxter

John Robert Baxter, age 88, of Cash, passed from this life on November 29, 2025. He was born on May 16, 1937, to James and Lona Mae (Crossno) Baxter. John lived a life anchored in faith, service, and love for his family and community.

John was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lona Mae Baxter; brothers, James (Jimmy) Baxter, Raymond Baxter, Kenneth (Chief) Baxter, Harvey (Mike) Baxter, and Floyd Baxter; half-brothers, Clement Baxter, Curtis Bryant, and Garland Bryant; sisters, Dixie Coleman and Margaret Block; step-daughter, Danette Richardson; grandson, Joshua Smart and step-grandson, Jonathan Tubbs.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Janice (Guffey) Baxter of the home; his son, Vincent Baxter; daughters, Robin (Keith) Allen, Joy (John) Murphy; step-daughters, Cindy Tubbs, and Darlene Easter. John also leaves behind a legacy through his granddaughter, Whitney (Chris) Wheeler; his step-grandchildren, Tammy (Allen) Tenneson, Variea (Chris) McGarrah, Kyle (Eric) Porresoavacich, and David (Stacey) Tubbs. He was blessed with great-grandsons, Reid and Drake Wheeler, and numerous other great-grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

John was a proud Army veteran, having served in France for several years. His commitment to his faith was unwavering; for over 54 years, he ministered and witnessed to everyone he met. John loved the Lord deeply and served at Cash Assembly of God, where he preached his final sermon on November 2, 2025.

In addition to his ministry, John cherished time spent outdoors-fishing and deer hunting were among his favorite pastimes. He will be remembered for his kindness, his devotion to his faith and family, and his enduring impact on all who knew him.

A service honoring John's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Ballew's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time.

John's legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the entire community.
