John Edward Benik

John Benik, age 62, of Eden Prairie, MN, passed away peacefully on March 30 due to complications from heart transplant surgery, surrounded by loving family.
John loved serving his community. He was a member of the Eden Prairie Volunteer Fire Department for 12 years, a position he held with pride and honor. He was also actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America as a Scout Master and then District Commissioner. He was a very talented grill master and loved judging BBQ competitions. John loved playing golf, riding his bike, traveling to Las Vegas with his brother and sisters, and was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. He always had a smile on his face and was quick to laugh.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Irene Benik and his brother, Allen. He was a loving husband to Jane, a devoted father to Jack and Abby and a wonderful brother to Dan (Miriam), Nancy (Vern) Chandler, and Carol (Edson) Blaisdell. A memorial service will be held at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 8201 Main St, Chanhassen, MN 55317, on April 12 at 11:00 AM. Visitation one hour before the service.
