John Billingslea Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Perches Funeral Home-Lower Valley on Feb. 12, 2026.
July 24, 1950 - February 9, 2026

John Carter Billingslea, affectionately known as "Johnny," passed away on February 9, 2026, after a brief illness.

Born on July 24, 1950, in El Paso, Texas to Robert A. "Bobby" and Nettie Billingslea, Johnny grew up with a deep appreciation for the world around him. He was known by all as an animal rescuer, a gun lover, and a passionate fisherman who felt most at home in the outdoors.

Johnny was the kind of man who never met a stranger and never missed an opportunity to crack a joke. He was a loyal friend with a mischievous wit and an unwavering willingness to help anyone in need. Whether he was sharing a laugh or a helping hand.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Pam. He leaves behind a large and devoted family, including his children Jody Sue, Colby (Rebecca), Jimmy (Tara), Max, Asper, and Gaby. He was a proud grandfather to Heather, Sophi, Carter, Ember, Ashlyn, Cadenza, Ethan, Sadie, Rene, Adrian, Lulu, Mazie, Remi, Jonah, and Jade. He was also blessed with several great-grandchildren: Jude, Ezra, Dana, and Delilah.

He is also survived by his brother, Joe (Sue), many nieces and nephews, and a group of devoted friends.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Andy and Tommy.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to a charity of the donor's choice.

A special thanks to the staff of Hospice of El Paso.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM at El Paso Chinese Baptist Church
