John Bishop Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heber Springs Funeral Home on Nov. 15, 2025.
John Eugene Bishop, 74, went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2025. He spent his final days at home, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

John was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, on September 26, 1951, to James and Pansy Bishop. He was the younger brother of his twin siblings, Jim and Janet.

John is survived by his brother Jim of Bristol, TN; his beloved wife of 52 years, Donna; their three sons and daughters-in-law-Mark and Kim, Dave and Melissa, and Luke and Hollan; and their 12 grandchildren: McKenzie and her husband Bryce, Kacilyn and her husband Gideon, Wesley and his wife Sarah, Adyson, Mason, Bobbie Ruth, Ansley, Chet, Ambrus, Cathy, Sadie, and Millie. He was also blessed with two precious great-grandchildren, Beckett and Dolly.

John gave his life to Christ at the age of 16 and faithfully preached the gospel from that day forward.

A celebration of John's life will be held at his favorite place, Triple S Christian Ranch, on Tuesday, November 18, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Triple S Christian Ranch, 165 Christian Ranch Rd., Rose Bud, AR 72137 for a memorial project.

"God is always good, and God is always right".

we came to Triple-S years before Bro. John´s accident. He would play 3-on-3 basketball, putting the teens to shame... At Triple-S ranch, John Bishop Would say, "O, there´s a report of a broom found in the rafters of the girls dorm #3. You guys don´t wanna marry a girl like that cause , one day you´ll come home and the broom will fall on your head and break your arm. Then you´ll lose your job , you´ll lose your car , you´ll lose your house , you´ll lose your kids, and the dog dies.".. The Alan Pierce family, David, Laurie, Ken, John, Jacob, & Joshua

In August of 1997 I met Bro. John at our August conference at Friendship Baptist Church. It was the first one and he was one of the speakers and it may have been his first message after the meningitis and Bro. Jack Stanley was preaching for the first time after his stroke. Bro. John was slowly reading a passage of scripture and he looked at Bro. Jack and told him that he might read faster than but he could outrun Bro. Jack and cracked everybody up. Many memories of Bro. John. I loved the way he always said "my Donna".

I remember as a teenager, when Brother John would come to our church in East Tennessee. He was always a great blessing and an encouragement.

One year, he came for homecoming and told a hilarious story about spilling hot chocolate on his lap, and, in an attempt to stop the burning, poured a glass of ice water in his lap as well.

At the meal following the service, one of the ladies serving food brought him a cup of hot chocolate, and I followed her with a glass of ice water. I set it at the table, and told him "just in case".

It was a privilege to know this man, one of the most dedicated Christian young men that I ever have known. He truly loved his Jesus and served him many years. I had the privilege of teaching this young man in Sunday School during his teen years. Patsy and I send our love to Donna and the family during this time.
