John Bitner Jr.

John Bitner Jr., 78, of Lemont Furnace, PA passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, in WVU Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, PA.
John was born on February 2, 1947, in Mount Independence, PA the son of John Paul Bitner and Nellie (Nedrow) Bitner.
John served in the United States Marine Corp.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife Janet (Williams) Bitner, sons, John Bitner and Chris Bitner, daughter, Darlia Bitner, sisters, Mary Bitner, Margaret Bitner, Joan (Bitner) Churby and Debbie (Bitner) Coldren, and a brother, William Harvey Bitner.
John is survived by his daughter, Dawn Shaffer of San Antonio, Texas, son, Thomas Bither of Lemont Furnace, PA grandson, Samuel Shaffer of San Antonio, Texas, sisters, Betty (Bitner) Klink of Connellsville, PA and Patty (Bitner) Wilson of Maryland and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life in memory of John will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the DeGusipe Funeral Home and Crematory, 65 N. Gallatin Ave., Uniontown, PA, Stacey A. Dolfi, FD. A prayer service will be held at 12:15 PM with Pastor Ira Logan officiating, followed by Military rites that will be accorded by the George C. Marshall Amvets Post 103, Hopwood, PA. Interment is private.
