John W. Boyle

John "Jack" W. Boyle, 79, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at MidState Medical Center. John was born on April 4, 1943, in New Britain, to the late Daniel and Lillian (Gawitt) Boyle and had been a lifelong Southington resident. For the last 16 years he happily resided in an Arc of Southington group home in Plantsville. John was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Women's Basketball. He loved polka music and played the drums for most of his life. Friendly's was his favorite restaurant where he was warmly greeted by the employees. Pepsi was his beverage of choice and when it came to dessert, there was no such thing as too much chocolate. Blessed with an Irish sense of humor, John enjoyed "cracking up" over funny things and making others laugh. His smile lit up his face and put a twinkle in his eye. He possessed a special, indefinable quality that endeared him to all who knew him. As one Arc employee expressed it, "John had a larger impact on our lives than we did on his." Throughout his life he was well known in town and will be deeply missed by many and especially by the people at the Arc of Southington. He was predeceased by his parents Daniel and Lillian and is survived by his sister, Maureen Boyle, of New Rochelle, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory may be made to the Arc of Southington, 201 West Main St., Plantsville, CT 06479. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 9 :00 a.m. from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held from 2 - 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the funeral home.
