John Breckler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Dowds Chapel on Jun. 10, 2025.
John C. Breckler, 75, of Outside of Bladensburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 27, 1949, to the late Charles and Betty Breckler, John lived a life defined by service, strength, and deep devotion to those he loved.
John proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, where he was a member of the elite Advanced Underwater Weapons. His dedication to service continued long after his time in the military, as he went on to serve his community as a firefighter, a member of the Knox County Sheriff's Auxiliary Department, and a proud member of the Moose Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
For 54 wonderful years, John was married to the love of his life, Frances Breckler. Together, they built a strong and loving family that was the center of John's world. He found immense joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His gentle heart also extended to his beloved dogs, who were always by his side.
John had a passion for woodworking and tinkering-always fixing, building, or crafting something special with his hands. His creative spirit, loyal heart, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Frances Breckler; his daughters, Christine Breckler and Jennifer (Joshua) Yacapraro; his sister, Katie Johnson; grandchildren, Jacob Yacapraro and Jessica (William III) Newman; and great-grandchildren, Bella and William IV.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Jane Breckler, Judith Llewellyn, and Joan Anderton; and his cherished mother-in-law, Esther Kirk.
Family and friends may call on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. A service celebrating John's life, followed by military honors, will begin at 3:00 PM.
In honoring John's legacy, the family invites all who knew him to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life well lived.
