John “Johnny” Brent

John "Johnny" Smith Brent, 77, of Stafford County, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

John was a skilled draftsman and carpenter throughout his life, known for his craftsmanship and dedication to his work. A proud Navy veteran, he served his country with honor. He grew up in the Cranes Corner area and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. John was baptized at Hulls Memorial Church, where he found faith and community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Maxey Brent; his children, John "Kevin" Brent and Misty Lynn Mesimer (Casey); grandchildren Cassie Remaly (Eric) and Donna Mesimer; siblings David Brent and Roberta Skinner; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Finney and Robert H. Brent, and siblings Robert "Bobby" Brent, Christine Williams, and Frank Brent.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Following the services, the family will also receive friends to enjoy a time of food and fellowship at Stafford Crossing Community Church.
