January 23, 1945 – February 11, 2026

John (Sandy) Martin Brice, III, 81, of Bastrop passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

The funeral mass will be held at Ascension Catholic Church in Bastrop on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 1pm. Interment will be Saturday, February 14, 2026 at the Brice family cemetery in Fredericksburg at 11am.

Sandy was born on January 23, 1945 in San Diego, California to John Martin Brice, Jr. and Jimmie Bridges Brice. He grew up in South Texas and graduated from Falfurrias High School. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served four years. Following his service, he returned home and went to work in the oilfield. Later in life, he worked on the Naval Base in Kingsville, where he ultimately retired. He loved reading, music and spending time with those he loved.

Sandy is survived by sons, Martin Brice, Reb Brice (Shelly), Shawn Brice, Brian Carlucci; daughters, Shannon Stauffacher (Eric), Brandy Harshbarger (Jonathan); sister, Carol Anne Calahan; brothers, Ted Brice, Pat Brice (Peri), Brian Brice (Patty), Tim Brice (Sandy); grandchildren, Bethany Akers (Travis), Hayden Stauffacher (Audrey), Hunter Stauffacher (Celeste), DJ Howard (Cierra), Taylor Harshbarger, Nolan Harshbarger, Madison Brice, Levi Brice, Danaja Casper, Connor Stauffacher, Arianna Carlucci, Cory Carlucci; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pam Peterson and sister-in-law Joy Brice.
