John Frank Brown, age 88 passed away Friday, June 21, 2024 at his home. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 1, 2024 at 11 AM at Country Worship Cowboy Church, 1658 FM 935 Lott, TX 76656.
John Frank Brown was born on March 29, 1936, in the Ewing community of Coryell County, now part of Ft. Hood, the son of Frank Brown and Nona Jones Brown. He attended school in Gatesville and got his start as a cowboy working for the late Jack Fry and the late Robert J. Hunt. He served in the National Guard and was discharged in 1963. He then moved to Waco, working for Jay Goode and met the love of his life Anne Lane at the Gatesville Rodeo in June of 1963, and they were married soon after on December 20, 1963. They made their home in Robinson, where he trained many Appaloosa, Paint, and Quarter horses for cutting, reining, and roping. He then continued to train horses working for Robert Thigpen in Chilton.
John and Anne shared 60 wonderful years together.
John was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Nona Brown; sister, Virginia Fillmore; brothers, Flavil Lee Brown and Billy Carl Brown; and brother-in-law Mead Miller III.
John is survived by his wife, Anne Brown; children Jay Lane Brown and wife, Charlotte Waldrop Brown; Jim Alan (Troubles) Brown and wife, Kristian Lee Brown; step-grandson Kian D’Ingianni; sister, Betty Andrews, sister-in-law, Sue Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
