Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in St. Cloud for John Brown, age 57, who passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Pastor Zach Hoffman will officiate. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the services at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids.
John was born June 25, 1967, in Des Moines, IA, to Tom Brown and Beverly Hammond. He married Sara Judson on November 7, 1998, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale, IA. Together they welcomed two children, Emma and Hayden.
John worked for many years in higher education, first in the alumni office and then the athletic department at Drake University, and later in the alumni office at St. Cloud State University. A passionate alum, John loved his Iowa Hawkeyes and Drake Bulldogs. He was a member of the Hawkeye Marching Band as a student at the University of Iowa and remained actively involved as an alum. He served on many boards and co-hosted the "Down & Off!" podcast for the HMB Alumni Band. As a man of deep faith, he spent his mornings with a cup of coffee and his Bible study. John treasured God, family and work. The only thing that eclipsed his passion for sports was the love for his children and pride of his family.
Left to cherish John's memory are his wife of 25 years, Sara; children, Emma and Hayden; father, Tom (Pat) Brown; parents-in-law, Jim & Charlotte Judson; sister-in-law, Katie (Michael) McCormick; brother-in-law, Jim (Kira) Judson; uncle, Johnny (Alice) Hammond; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Brown; and grandmother, Kathryn Hammond.
Flowers and memorial contributions to the family are welcomed.
