John L. Burgett

1942 - 2026

John Leslie Burgett, 83 of Franklin, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026.

He was born on June 20, 1942 in Morgantown, Indiana to Russell F. and Gussie G. (Smith) Burgett. He married Sally Ann (Taylor) Burgett on February 10, 1963. She lovingly survives. He is also survived by their children, Scott (Brenda) Burgett, Christopher (Donna) Burgett and Cathy (Chris) Peetz and grandchildren, Stevie Burgett, Spencer Peetz and A.J. Peetz. He was preceded in passing by his parents, brother, James Burgett and sister, Carol Louise Burgett.

John was a graduate of Union High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was employed by Agco (formerly Allis-Chalmers) as a Finance Rep, retiring in 2008 after many years of dedicated service.

John was a member of the Christian Chapel Church. He also was a member of the American Legion and the Broke Bunch Car Club.

He enjoyed antique radios. John enjoyed working on his Hot Rod and attending car shows with his wife. They so loved going to the Frog Follies and to the Hot Rod Nationals every year with their car club.

John's happy place was spending many hours on the farm. He loved his family and was a wonderful father and husband.

Pastor Kevin Whitaker will conduct a Celebration of John's life on Saturday, January 10th, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin with Visitation on Saturday, January 10th from 12:00 p.m. to time of service at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted following the service.
