John Hansford Cash Jr.

John Hansford Cash, Jr., born on January 7, 1955, in Alexandria, VA, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the age of 70, in Fairfax, VA.

John, known to many as Skeeter or Big John, graduated from Hayfield High School, in Alexandria, VA, Class of 1973. He went on to serve as a deputy for the Fairfax County Sheriff's Department and spent the rest of his many working years in construction. John was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed muscle cars, drag racing, and spending time with his family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Kathryn Cash; parents, John H. and Odella Cash; sister, DeLois Hobson; and nephew, Brandon Roman. He is survived by his four children, John H. Cash III (Jennifer), Rebecca Rawe (John), Kelli Cash, and Thomas Cash (Angela); four grandchildren, William Cash (Dayana), Logan Cash, Kylie Cash, and Ethan Rawe; soon-to-be-born great-grandson, Matthew William Cash; sisters, Peggy Goodsell (Glen), Carol Peterson, and Joyce Roman; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A service will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (5600 Smith Station Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407). The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, at Green Hill Cemetery (701 W 10th Street, Buena Vista, VA 24416).
