John was always there as a friend to Ken, from the minute Ken opened his studio at the Factory. John was so happy to be a part of the Ken Means Carousel of Dreams. Many hours were spent listening to John´s many stories. He will be greatly missed by us both

Thank you for loving us all and believing in us on our journey as we learned how to be a grown up, find our balance, how to be us. Thank you and Laura for recognizing and helping us see what made each of us special. We hold you always in our hearts.Rest in peace John.
With love, Lyn Dorris

John was my friend and neighbor at the Factory for many years. He entertained me with colorful stories of his childhood, his career as a photographer, a teacher and one-time preacher! I am so glad to have stopped by his studio just a few short weeks ago for a visit, John in his blue chair with Cat in his lap. May the adventures continue my friend.

John was first and foremost a generous devoted friend. I only had that privilege for fifteen years. John always answered the call if I or anyone else was in need of help. Even the ridiculous favors I involved him in that he always should´ve said no to he didn´t because that´s how he was. But he always managed to return the favor by having me on his roof ten times or replacing a kitchen faucet. I´ll miss the chats, shenanigans and of course the tequila. Love you buddy!

Although we have lived so far away for many years, I will always remember your kindness when Carola and I were young. I believe this is you beside my dad with Grandma Tyus, all three, bravely showing off your catch for the day. Rest in heavenly peace, Uncle John. John Chastain-Abilene, Texas
