In Loving Memory of John Chapman Childress Jr.
Dear Family and Friends,
It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of John Chapman Childress Jr., who left us on November 6th at his home in Lewisville, NC. John was born on July 14, 1946, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the son of John Childress and Lori Rose Castiglia. He is survived by his loving wife, Debra Childress, with whom he shared more than 53 years of marriage; his sister, Deborah Childress; his brother, David Childress; Uncle Bobby Childress; his children, John Childress III and Tonya Plaice, along with their spouses Corene Childress and Andy Plaice; and his cherished grandchildren, Aidan, Ava, Rhonin, Bella and Wyatt. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Victor and Robert Childress. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. A hard worker throughout his life, he always strove to provide for his family and ensure they never went without. Known for his long curly locks and signature denim overalls, he embodied a spirit of simplicity and dedication. He loved tending to his farm and home, finding peace in the land and joy in caring for it. He also cherished time spent with his family, at the beach and with his faithful dog, Lilly. Above all, John’s greatest devotion was to his wife, whom he lovingly cared for throughout their long marriage and until the end.
Details for a celebration of life service will be shared once finalized. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the COPD Foundation or the American Lung Association, organizations dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by chronic lung disease. We will remember John for his devotion, his kindness, and the love he gave so freely. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
With love and remembrance, The Childress and Plaice Family.
