John Cameron Christy, Jr, age 94, passed away at home in Morrisville, NC on November 10, 2025, surrounded by the love of his daughters.
"Jack," to all who loved him, was born July 12, 1931 in Baltimore, MD. He married Della Jane Birdsong in 1960 and raised his three daughters in Howard County, MD. A true son of Baltimore, Jack was proud to have graduated from the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, loved a good crab feast and believed in the Orioles each and every year. A Korean War veteran, he served the country he loved as an Air Force air traffic controller. He then worked for the Bethlehem Steel Company for 30 years. He made and kept lifelong boyhood friends who later formed the Old Post Rifle Club, where he enjoyed shooting, hunting and camaraderie well into his eighties. He also enjoyed close friendships through his bridge club, his neighbors, and his VFW buddies. Jack loved his Scottish heritage, was an avid reader, a student of history, a joke teller, and an enthusiastic sports fan. Most of all, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, and was adored in return.
Jack is predeceased by his sister, Mary Leigh Crismer; his brother, Robert Christy; and his wife of 56 years, Jane Birdsong Christy, to whom he was truly devoted. Lovingly remembering him are his beloved daughters, Elizabeth MacPherson (John), Anne Christy, and Ellen Wall (Jeff); adored grandchildren, Christy Maple (Iver), Stephen MacPherson, Cameron Wall, Thad Kelly, Matthew Wall, and Lauren Wall; and cherished great granddaughters Maggie and Della Maple.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 17th at 10 am at First Cary United Methodist Church, before celebrating a Service of Death and Resurrection at 10:30. Internment at Oakwood Cemetery to follow the service.
