John S. Clark, 69, of Springfield, died at 9:26 a.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at his residence.
John was born on November 30, 1951 in Springfield, the son of Karl Edward and Beatrice McCann Clark. He married Connie Degani on February 17, 1973 in Panama, IL.
John was a 1970 graduate of Springfield High School. He graduated from the University of Arizona. John worked as a Resident Engineer for the Sangamon County Highway Department, retiring in 2009. He spent his retired years fishing and boating on Otter Lake. John also enjoyed gardening in his spare time and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father; stepmother, Clara Clark; his mother; stepfather, Jim Meadows; brother, Karl Clark II; and brother-in-law, Aaron Wiles.
He is survived by his wife, Connie J. (Degani) Clark of Springfield; two daughters, Cassie (Jeff) Langley of Athens and Rachel (Kevin Turcios) Clark of Springfield; three grandchildren, Brent and Brad Langley, and Anthony Clark; two siblings, Jeanne Marcy and Nancy Wiles, both of Springfield; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation will be provided by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
The family will host a Celebration of Life from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Teamsters Local #916, 3361 Teamster Way, Springfield IL 62707.
The family would like to thank HSHS hospice care staff for the excellent care provided to John during his recent illness.
