John G. Clark passed away on October 31, 2025, unexpectedly at his home in Knox.
John was born on October 8, 1962, in Bangor, to his parents, Natalie Ida Clark and Vernon Warren Clark. He grew up in a large family on a farm in Jackson, Maine.
John's work ethic took root early, helping on the family farm from a young age. At ten years old he earned his first job at the Ludden Farm in Brooks, riding his bicycle back and forth from Jackson to Brooks. After high school, John began his career as an ironworker and rigger. He worked out of state for many years, but always preferred jobs close to home and family. John retired in October of 2024 and looked forward to relaxing and working on the many projects he had planned for his retirement.
John made his home in Knox with the love of his life, Lisa Woods. Together they enjoyed gardening, a passion at which he excelled. From tilling the ground to canning their crops, John and Lisa could always be found outside "puttering" in their garden together. He loved quiet movie nights with Lisa and the long list of projects they tackled side by side. John spent his days on his tractor. He believed there was no season, or no job too big or too small, for his tractor. Whether moving snow or planting his orchard, John was using his beloved tractor for the job.
John cherished time with his stepson, Codey, of whom he was so proud. Most weekend mornings, you could find John and Codey at daybreak in the garage, having coffee and planning their weekend projects. They enjoyed hunting together, building together, and worked side by side through the years. Evenings often ended with the two of them back in the garage, cold beers in hand, talking about the day's accomplishments or sharing stories from their years "on the road."
John's love for animals began on the family farm and continued throughout his life. He cared deeply for his many pets over the years and had just adopted a new dog on the day he passed, looking forward to getting to know his newest companion, Jimini.
John always had a story to tell, was quick to lend a hand, and could fill a quiet room with laughter. We will miss his playful sense of humor, his big belly laughs, and most of all, his endless love and support.
John was predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Natalie; as well as several siblings. He is survived by his loving partner, Lisa; his stepson, Codey, and Codey's partner, Kristen Weeks, whom John affectionately called "the girl"; stepgranddaughter, Kylie Weeks; sister, Stephanie; and brother, Bruce. He also leaves behind many dear friends he loved, including lifelong best friend, Rufus Lovely, and close friends Randy Moran, Chris Muldoon, Jeannie Smith and Jack Lucas.
The family will hold a private service to remember John's life.
