Dr. Clifford was a wonderful teacher. He built people up...he never tore them down.

Dr. Clifford was a great teacher and he truly cared about the students. He was one of my professors at SWTSU from 1979 -1980. I will always remember how kind he was and how he brought out the best in people.

Mrs. Clifford,
I am so sorry to hear this news. My favorite memory of Dr. Clifford is when he read the Passion on Palm Sunday. We always made sure to go to "his" Mass. Other readers were not the same.

Sir was a shining example in my life of integrity and what it means to live the faith on a daily basis.
I learned a great deal from him, both in the classroom and the neighborhood.
He is missed. I will never hear a good pun (or a bad one) without thinking of Sir and wondering what rating it would get on his pun scale.
Sir shared with me his love of OTR and I will always remember him when I listen to Jack Benny or others that I know he enjoyed too.
I will always be grateful for the blessing that Sir was in my life. He will always be remembered in thoughts and prayers . Life for us now is "changed, not ended" he always told us to "Carry On" and so, we follow his example and pray for him and know that his prayers will assist us one day to the joys of eternal life together.
Love & prayers for Sir and all the family always.

Dear Clifford Family,

I only know John through his beautiful daughter Bridget, but I can say with certainty, that he must have been a person of impeccable integrity, unshakeable moral courage, and a deep and total love of God and God's people. I was blessed to see in Bridget all of these characteristics John imparted to his family and lived every day.
My prayer for all of you is that you find courage, comfort and peace as you journey through your grief.

I met John Clifford when I started bible study at Holy Trinity eight years ago. We both share the name John so the bible study group called him John The Elder. We think differently and we're able to challenge each other's thoughts very logically. John had an approach to scripture similar to John The Evanglist using lyric like reason to prove his point. I preferred the more direct challenging approach of John The Baptist. We both grew to be better in our faith through our sharing.

God Bless your soul and family!

Sir, as I always called him, was a man of honor and faith. Through difficulty and sorrow he held tight to the Cross of Christ and reflected the Light of the Resurrection to his family and friends. He was steadfast in his love for his family and always ready with a helping hand to those who turned to him. It was my great joy to call him a friend and a mentor. I have always cherished the memories of cooking BBQ Chicken with him for the SMHS Band when Christine was Drum Major (and I was the "help from next door"). All night we'd be out there stoking fires so we could shovel hot coals under the grills. My happiest memories are of spending evenings with him watching "Nero Wolfe." First, as a kid when it was on in the 80's and then again a few years ago when we watched the A&E series together. He even found video of the old version we watched together so many years ago. Precious memories of wonderful times spent with "Sir" and his family. May our Good Lord receive him into the glories of the Kingdom without delay where he, and Christine, and Brett can sing the glories of the God he loved and served. My love and prayers to Nancy, B & Brad, Kack & Mike, Brittney & Shane. We live in the hope of Christ's promise for those who Love Him, Sir love Him and served Him well. Pax et Bonum -
