JOHN PETER COLLING

John Colling, 88, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away on March 8, 2026. John was born on July 3, 1937 and raised in Chicago, Illinois. While he began his career in the printing industry, John spent most of his working life in various management roles at Jewel – Osco grocery stores in the Chicago area. John was a man who understood that the best things in life take time to grow, catch, or find.

A lifelong fisherman, John was most at home on the water or the beach with a rod in his hand. He taught those around him that the joy was never just in the catch, but in the quiet patience of the wait. When he wasn't fishing, he could be found in his garden, tending to his vegetables and tropical plants. He had a special gift for making things thrive. He was also a dedicated collector of stamps, coins and other memorabilia. To him, these weren't just objects; they were stories waiting to be preserved.

John is survived by his children Dianne Lowe (Ed) and John Jr. (Jody), his grandchildren Lauren, John III, Daniel, Timothy, Matthew and Chad and great grandchildren, Evan, Elise Millie, John IV and Jack.

He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Elizabeth (Simon), his wife Patricia (Jackson) son Steven, brother Thomas "Gerry" and sisters Mary Long and Margaret Barr.
