Our Lord called the soul of John Charles Commo to Heaven in glory on April 18, 2023, at the age of 78 years. John was born August 15, 1944 in Fond du Lac, the son of Bernard and Celesta (Koepke) Commo. He attended Rosendale High School earning his diploma in 1963. On December 23, 1972 he was united in marriage with Adel Hafferman at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He was a proud employee of 41 years at Mercury Marine working mostly on the assembly line. John enjoyed many hobbies to include bowling, fishing, golfing, walking and meticulously restoring his father's boat along with his 1979 Chrysler Cordoba that he loved to display at various local car shows and parades. John enjoyed watching golf, the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks and always looked forward to the High School Girls State Basketball Tournament. John loved his supper clubs, always searching for the best steak or perch dinner.
John was a loving, caring and devoted father, grandfather and husband, recently celebrating 50 years of marriage. John is survived by his wife, Adel, his four children, Shelly (Coppock), Kelly (Dobyns), Scott (Jessica) Commo, and Rebecca (Steve) Olson; seven grandchildren, Courtney Hinkle, Alexandria Coppock, Joseph Dobyns, Sydney and Sophia Commo and Isabella and Noah Olson; three great-grandchildren, Kendra, Kaden and Kayleb along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Esther (Henry) Hafferman; two sisters, Judie Schelter and Joan Hall; two brother in-laws, Du Wayne Schelter and Ralph Hall.
Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 855 Martin Ave, Fond du Lac, WI. Burial will follow at Ledgeview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts may be given to help support the Mayo Clinic Cancer Research Fund.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at SSM Health/St. Agnes Hospital for all of the special care they provided. Zacherl Funeral Home is managing the arrangements. John 3:16
