John Michael Connolly

John Michael Connolly, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born on September 28, 1937, in New London, Connecticut. John retired from Shell Oil in Norco, LA, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. As a father, grandfather, and father-in-law, John was truly remarkable. He always provided for his family, and instilled in them the values of hard work and perseverance. John was always ready to share a joke and anyone who knew him loved him. As a devoted Christian, John’s faith guided him throughout his life, serving as a foundation for his actions and relationships. John will be deeply missed, and remembered fondly for the joy he brought to others.

John is survived by his wife, Carolyn Maranto Connolly; children, Joe Pat Connolly (Aimee), Marianna Cefalu (Brian Bertrand), Peter Connolly (Katie), and Joanna Barraza; grandchildren, Troy Connolly, (step-grandson) Jack Reed, (step-granddaughter) Aubree Reed, Tyler Cefalu, Isabella Cefalu, Marcus Connolly, Wesley Connolly, Hector Barraza, Antonio Barraza, and Angelina Barraza; and sister, Mary Lou LaBonte and her children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Anne Connolly.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Monday, December 22, 2025 from 9:00 am until the Memorial Service begins at 11:00 am.
