John Albert Cooper was born on November 14, 1943, to Elias and Estella Cooper. He was the fourth child of ten children. He attended Long Elementary, Tech Jr. High and Tech High School. In 1961, John enlisted in the United States Air Force and completed a four-year term with an honorable discharge.

On October 20, 1971, John married the love of his life, LaHunter Gale. They celebrated 53 years of love and to this union two daughters were born. John loved his family deeply. He was affectionate, dedicated, hardworking and always ensuring their needs were met. He was a generous man, always willing to help and oftentimes putting the needs of others above his own.

John had many talents. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Over the years he taught students in grades six through twelve. John had a special gift for being able to connect with his students and others.

Family connections and success were also important to John. He and his brothers started a bakery and catering service, Bingo Donuts. At the height of this business, they operated three donut shops in the east Texas area. He later shifted his career from business and teaching to a challenging and rewarding position at IBM. His ability to connect with others helped him excel as a top salesman until he retired.

During retirement, John championed a mentoring program and Bible study for boys with the support of his spiritual brothers in Man-Up Ministries. John found purpose and joy in praying for others and teaching young men how to study the Bible. His faith grew stronger through fellowship and service with the brothers of Man-Up Ministries.

Bringing family and friends together at his lake property in Chandler, Tx, also brought a tremendous amount of joy to John’s life. He treasured spending time with Gale at the lake where they created a relaxing and fun place for everyone to enjoy. John valued the bonds of family and brought many generations together.

John transitioned to eternity on March 3, 2025. He is survived by his wife, Gale; daughters, Amy (Auclair) Walters, Kimberly Cooper-McNeil and Katherine Cooper; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren; two brothers, three sisters; nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends. John lived a vibrant life filled with love and joy. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed. His spirit will forever inspire those who knew him.
