John "Lightning " Copeland was an incredible athlete and a real class guy! My father was the head coach at Valdosta High School "The Wildcats"!
I still remember that night when he almost single handed won the championship for VHS. The Atlanta paper the next day said " lightning strikes Marietta"! ( vHS played Marietta that year , not Decatur").
When my father passed, I was so impressed that John came back to Valdosta for the funeral!
I´m saddened to hear of John´s passing!
