We mourn the passing of a revered and brilliant, yet humble Chief thoracic surgeon, beloved son on North Carolina and himself a son of a NC Physician, Dr. John Cordice, 40- years a dedicated Harlem Physician who saved the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr in. 1958 @ Harlem Hospital. We were honored to have met him with his charming wife Marguerite in 2011 @ a fundraiser for Harlem Hospital Center.

I read the NY Times obituary and was touched. The photo of him shows a gentle, sweet soul. My heart goes out to the family.

I feel previlage to have known him as a co-worker. My foundest memories of him has been listening to his life experiences and lessons that he learned from them. He talked so often about all his daughters, and how proud he was of them.

Wow!!! What a surgeon? What a man? What an experience? Our hearts grieve with you for your recent loss; and we hope that you find comfort in God's love, his promises, and the expressions of family and friends. Rest assured that God has witnessed the deeds of Mr. Cordice and they are etched deeply within his memory. Certainly Jesus had Mr. Cordice in mind when he spoke the words at Luke 23:43: "You will be with me in Paradise." Until that time, it is with deep respect that we say goodbye to a great physician.
