John and I met while serving in the Army while stationed in Japan in 1966 and have been best friends ever since. One story. John was 6 ft. - 3 in. tall. We were standing at attention during an inspection of our Dress Green uniform. The inspecting officer was the minimum height allowed. When he stood in front of John, he had to go up on his toes to see the brass on John's shoulders. As the Lieutenant raised up on his - so did John. This happened several times until I started laughing. The
Lieutenant asked me what was so funny. I couldn't even talk. Lost my
pass for a week. We had a lot of fun together and provided support and
encouragement many times over the years. "Miss you Bud".
