John was a great carpenter & very important part of our company.
John had the knowledge & skill to remodel an old farmhouse into the eye-catching landmark which houses our offices at Morgan & Boeke.
John will be missed by all of us, but never forgotten.
Rest in Peace, John

John was a co-worker and friend for 27 years. He was one tough son-of-a-gun that we all liked and cared about.
Often our company would put a new guy on John's framing crew with the thought that he will either give up and quit under John's demanding standards. Or, if he stuck around, the company knew the new guy could handle the tough jobs.
John could build and frame anything.
Some of my memories:
John and others were looking over a complicated architect plan that definitely seemed wrong. John tossed the prints aside, cut a flap off a cardboard box, drew his own sketch using his carpenter pencil, and said, "This is how it should be". John was right and the guys bult the project.
Another time, John was building some yard signs out of a rough cedar. I asked if he was concerned about getting splinters because John had no gloves on at the time. John responded with, "If I had hands like yours, I'd be worried about splinters." :-)
Since I've known John, he could outwork any man half his age.
Recently, at age 80, John built access ramps for people 20 years younger.
He was a good-looking man who would sometimes let his beard grow long because strangers would often say he looked like Uncle SI. This made John smile, and he posed for many pictures as Uncle Si from Duck Dynasty.
