John Creedon, age 90, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away peacefully on his birthday, August 17, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born August 17, 1935, in Whitehall, New York, to Lawrence Edward Creedon and Margaret Catherine (McManus) Creedon.
Born one of nine boys to a single mother during the Great Depression, John outlived all of his brothers. On November 27, 1976, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Pelissier Nolan of Northampton, Massachusetts, with whom he shared nearly 50 years of marriage and built a loving family.
John graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1955, where he managed the school baseball and football teams. He studied business management at American River College and Franklin Pierce College, and completed an accounting program through the International Accounting Society, Inc. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, as a Nuclear Weapons Mechanic Specialist, and went on to work many careers, including with the U.S. Postal Service, a salesman, and an entrepreneur. With a persistent drive and restless ambition, he launched numerous businesses including gas stations, furniture stores, a print shop, a bar, and even an early laser printer repair company. Long before HGTV, he was flipping houses for remarkable returns. Most of all, John will be remembered for his humor and biting wit.
John is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of the home; his children: Michael Creedon (Elaine) of Gardner, Massachusetts; Steven Creedon (Katrina) of Kirbyville, Missouri; Karen Terry (David) of Omaha, Arkansas; John Creedon Jr. (Reshma); and stepson, Patrick M. Nolan (Erin) of Kirksville, Missouri. He also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.. He spent his final days surrounded by Dorothy, his children, and grandchildren-just the way he would have wanted.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
