IRON MOUNTAIN - John R. Dahlgren, 78, of White Birch Village, died Thursday, March 29, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 17, 1929, in Alpha, the son of the late Carl and Edith (Carlson) Dahlgren. In his younger years, John sailed the ore boats on the Great Lakes and worked on the Alcan Highway in Alaska. John worked construction for most of his life. He served his country as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1950-1953 during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. John married Betty Carlson in Kingsford on Jan. 3, 1959. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. John was also an avid sports fan and Packer Fan. He is survived by his wife, Betty; three children, Scott Dahlgren of Granite Bluff, Dan Dahlgren of Iron Mountain, and Debbie (Perry) Tompkins of Iron Mountain; four grandchildren, Lola Dahlgren, and Jessica, Ashley, and Cody Tompkins; many nieces and nephews, and his favorite cat Rosie. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Ted Dahlgren. Visitation will be Monday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the church. Rev. Lee Liverance will officiate. Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens. Condolences to the family of John R.
