John Ernest "Skip" Dawson, 60, of North Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Michele Knepp Dawson, entered into eternal rest Sunday, September 1, 2024. His Memorial Service will be held Monday, September 9, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel.
Skip was born August 28, 1964 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of John Edward Dawson III and Carolyn Lee Carroll. He was a graduate of Garrett High School, Class of 1983. He was a fixture at the Dixie Furniture Company as the general manager for over 35 years. Anyone that knows Skip knows how much he loved Dixie and all of his loyal customers. Skip enjoyed watching his Dallas Cowboys, Clemson Football, Dixie Youth Baseball and the Atlanta Braves. He also loved spending time with his family, cooking out, and being lazy with his dogs. Skip had a remarkable gift for making people laugh, loved with all his heart, and could tell a story like no other.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his daughter, Taylor Dawson Moore (Chad); brother, Kelly Dawson (Sheila); sisters, Michelle Dawson Lloyd (Danny), Tiffany Dawson Murray (Rob); two Grandsons, Dawson Lee Moore and Nolan Daniel Moore; Aunt, Barbara Dawson; nephews, Daniel Lloyd Jr, Cooper Dawson, Garrick Murray, Drew Lloyd; nieces, Haley Dawson and Ellie Murray; along with many cousins. He is also survived by his lifelong circle of friends including the Whaley Clan, The Rubin’s, and many others. He is also survived by his fur buddies, Buster and Gabi.
He was preceded in death by his best buddy Chipper; paternal Grandparents, John and Eulalie Dawson II, and maternal Grandparents, Helen and Ernest Carroll.
In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to the Butch Barfield Foundation.
