John Delahaye Obituary

John Lawrence Delahaye died October 3, 2023, at Our Lady of the Lake hospital, surrounded by his family. He was 76 years old. At the time of his death, John was a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but he was born in Plaquemine, and that is where he spent most of his life. A 1974 graduate of Loyola University New Orleans, College of Law, John practiced law at the firm Borron and Delahaye for 43 years. He was a 1964 graduate of St. John High School, where he was a 1963 All State linebacker. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and earned the honor of Eagle Scout. John is survived by his wife, Linda Walls Delahaye, to whom he was married for 54 years; and his sons, Bradley and Evan Delahaye. He is also survived by his brother, Michael (Lillette); two sisters, Frances Kane and Betsy Delahaye; and his sister-in-law, Lynn Everett Delahaye; and sister- and brother-in-law, Carolyn Walls and Al Fletritch; as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Evan and Mary Elizabeth Jolley Delahaye; his brother, Landry Delahaye; and his brother-in-law, Henry Kane, Jr. John was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Rotary, and Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association (act.alz.org), Louisiana Chapter: 831 Kings Hwy #120, Shreveport, LA 71104. Visitation will be held at Wilbert Funeral Home, 24120 Railroad Avenue, Plaquemine, Louisiana on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 9:00 until memorial service at 11am.
