John A. Delnero

John Anthony Delnero, aged 90, passed away on April 25th, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on December 30th, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, to Peter and Betty Delnero, John lived a life filled with passion for family, friends, travel, food, and reading.
After serving as a Medical Corpsman in the U.S. Army (Private 2nd Class), and obtaining a Master's of Science, John became a special educator with the Chicago Board of Education for over 30 years. John spent his 25 years of retirement living on Daufuskie Island and later in Sun City where he was an avid golfer, bridge player, and volunteer firefighter (Daufuskie Island Fire District).
He was a loving husband to his wife Harriet, for 54 years, and a proud father to his children, Paul, Christopher (Aimee), John (Ruth), Peter, and the late Lauren, and to his 7 grandchildren, John, Christina, Anthony, Grant, Colin, Heather, Crystal.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, May 30, 2025, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bluffton, South Carolina, with an inurnment immediately following.
