John Demko Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 4, 2025.
John P. Demko, 83, of Eagan, MN, went home to the Lord and to be reunited with his beautiful wife, Janice, on November 26, 2025, in his home after a short illness.

John was born on March 6, 1942, in Minneapolis and graduated from Spring Lake Park High School, class of 1960. He met Jan (nee Cloutier), and they were married on October 29, 1960. After a short time, they settled down in their home in Eagan where they raised their family. John worked as a salesman of street signs and playground equipment. He was a great salesman, treating customers as friends, but his true passion was his loving family.

John is survived by his sons, John (Christine) of Apple Valley, Daniel (Cynthia) of Apple Valley, and Scott (Stephanie) of Prior Lake, and his daughter, Julie (Jonathan) Howe of Eagan. He is loved and will be missed by his grandchildren, Samantha, Jennifer (Nick) Lyles, Jacob, Taylor (Connor) McNee, Logan (LeAnn), Lexie(Peyton) Geis, and Daniel Howe. In the last few years of his life, his heart was full of love for his five great-grandchildren, Riley and Isaac Lyles, Calvin and Case Geis and James Demko. He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis, his brother-in-laws Mike (Marlene) Cloutier, David (Pauletta) Cloutier and sister-in-law Mary (Ken) Menear, nephew Randy Menard and many other family members and close friends.

John's children want to convey their deepest gratitude to his longtime companion, Carolyn Jordan and her very caring family, especially Dorothy, Catherine, Ian, Bridget, and his favorite "turkey" Imogen, who all came into Dad's life after Mom passed away and gave him the love, hope and joy he needed. We are forever grateful for you being there for him when he really needed someone, and we will never forget.

John had a love-hate relationship with our local sports teams, especially the Vikings, the Twins, and the Gophers. He coached youth sports in the Burnsville-Eagan area in the 1970s when his sons were young. He loved to travel and made his second home on Sanibel Island, FL in the winter. He was no happier than when he could show someone new around the island. He was very proud of his kids, his home, and how well he kept up his yard.

John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jan, his brother George, and his parents, John and Mabel.

Funeral will be held on December 10, 2025, at Mary, Mother of the Church 3333 Cliff Rd. E., Burnsville, MN. Visitation 10 AM, service 11 AM with a luncheon to follow. A private interment will follow at a later date.

Memorials preferred to Minnesota Hospice.
