John R. “Dick” Berkshire, 92, of Royal Center passed away at 5:20 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2024 at home surrounded by family.
Born on November 30, 1931 in Cass County, he was the son of the late Quincy and Violet (Kerns) Berkshire.
On June 10, 1949 he married Vada A. Cooper, she survives.
Dick was a retired truck driver and was a former Royal Center Town employee.
He was a member of the Baptist Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Vada Berkshire of Royal Center, children, Tim Berkshire (Lori) of Royal Center and Valerie Ranee Fisher (Steve) of Franklin, sisters, Sue Blackwood of Florida and Rhonda Trapp (Max) of Royal Center, brother, Jay Bill Berkshire (Sharon) of Galveston and daughter in law, Sandy Berkshire of Camden. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his sons, Michael Berkshire and Richard Berkshire, brothers, Jim, Donny, Sonny, and Larry Dean Berkshire and sister, Margie Kesling.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the Baptist Christian Church with Pastor Joel Sharp officiating.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will be at Thompson Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Baptist Christian Church Crusaders.
