JOHN L. DOHERTY
Marlton, NJ
John L. Doherty passed away suddenly on January 14, 2026. He was 88 years old. John was the beloved husband of Linda (nee McCullough). He was the loving father of Derrick Doherty (Monica) and Stacy Doherty (Michael Bonner). Proud grandfather of Corey Doherty, Shane Doherty, Caleigh Pirnik, Mackenzie Doherty, and Ashlynn Doherty. Great Grandfather of Beau and Rhys Doherty. He was the brother of Patrick Doherty (Barbara), Judy Cohen, and the late Frances McDougall. Also survived by his doggies Rana and Meka.
John was born in Canada and moved to the United States in 1969 when the company he worked for expanded. John, more affectionately known by his family and close friends in Canada as Junior, was very involved in the Boy Scouts when he was younger and achieved an award of "Queen" Scout, the highest achievement for his devoted participation in the organization. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and thoroughly enjoyed the yearly fishing trips he took with his son, grandson, and many other close friends to Island Lake in Canada. One of his biggest passions was camping and spent most winters in Florida and summers in Canada with Lynn in their RV. He was an active member of St. Joan of Arc church. He loved to bake and took great pleasure in baking lots of goodies for the parish staff. John had many friends and family both here and in Canada who will miss his generous heart and amusing antics.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Thursday January 22nd from 10:00-11:00 AM at St. Joan of Arc Church, 100 Willow Bend Road, Marlton, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John's name to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) or the Best Friends Animal Society (https://bestfriends.org/donate)
