John S. Dolhay

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Age 68, passed away early Sunday afternoon, February 25, 2024. John was born in Kalamazoo on February 23, 1956, the son of Louis and Carolyn (Stewart) Dolhay. On August 29, 1981, he married Patti Swander who survives him. John loved classic rock and roll. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed reading the Bible. He also liked an ice-cold Coors Light. Earlier in his life he liked camping with friends and family. John loved sports, especially baseball. He was a true blue Tigers fan. Nothing was more important to him than spending time with his family. Besides his wife, John is survived by his daughters, Samantha Dolhay and Lyndsey (Abraham) Trevino; grandchildren, Jaqualine Smith, Chance Smith, Maddox Trevino, and Alayna Trevino; brothers, Rick Dolhay, Steven "Bud" (Susan) Dolhay, Joe Dolhay; sister, Susie (Mike) Birkhold; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Judy Ann (Jack Sr.) Lem, Carol "Lynn" (Richard) Converse; brother, Robert Dolhay; nephews, Todd Lem, John Paul Converse and Tim Birkhold; niece, Wendy Birkhold.
