John Duffy

John (aka Ian) Duffy, 89, of Port Washington, NY, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at home. He was born on 8/24/1936 in Glasgow, Scotland, to the late John and Joan Duffy. He is predeceased by brothers and sisters Grace (Gerald) Sheridan, Joan (Jim) Orr, Isobel (James) Kent, William Duffy, and Janette (Eric) Mathieson.
Beloved husband to his pre-deceased wife Helen Duffy of 66 years, he is also survived by his sons John (Sophia Fu) Duffy III, Brian (Elizabeth) Duffy, Kenneth (Wendy) Duffy, his 5 grandchildren Dylan, Kay, Christopher, Logan, and Scarlett, Duffy, and a great granddaughter Cora Duffy. He is also survived by sisters-in-law May Curatolo, Sadie Ruddy, and Isabel (Andrew) McConville. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and many friends. He is also predeceased by brothers-in-law Daniel (Grace) Wilcox and Robert (Jeanette) Wilcox and three of six sisters-in-law Margaret (Victor) Schultz, Agnes (Johnny) McHoul, and Patricia (Gordon) Niven.
John (aka Ian) immigrated to the United States from Glasgow, Scotland with his wife Helen and young son John to Port Washington, NY, where he became a life-long resident and raised his family. He was a master electrician and was the sole proprietor of J Duffy Electric. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Port Washington for over 60 years. He was also a Scottish highland country dancer along with his wife.
Please join us for visitation on Friday afternoon November 14, 2025, from 1:00-3:00PM and 5:30-7:30PM at Roslyn Heights Funeral Home, 75 Mineola Ave, Roslyn Heights, NY 11577 followed by church service on Saturday November 15, 2025, from 10:00-11:00AM at the United Methodist Church 35 Middle Neck Road Port Washington, NY 11050. Burial to follow at Nassau Knolls Cemetery.
