John Daily Duino April 14, 1954 – March 5, 2025
John Daily Duino, a lifelong resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, passed away at his home on March 5, 2025, at the age of 70. John was born on April 14, 1954 to Helen Daily Duino and Nolan “Bud” Duino.
He graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1972 where he embodied school spirit as the beloved mascot, Colonel Strong Vincent. John’s roots in Erie ran deep. He got his start working at the original Traceydale Dairy Queen and later spent years bartending at the 3-Ds. Most recently he retired from a 20 year career working at MSC Industrial Supply. He was a familiar face at the Greengarden Tavern, Syd’s Place, and the Pittsburgh Inn. John had a deep appreciation for Lake Erie perch and he had an extensive knowledge of Erie’s neighborhoods and their history. His love for golf, whether on the course or watching the pros, remained one of his greatest joys.
A man of routine, he was a “regular” wherever he went. John didn’t know a stranger. Whether he was at one of the many Country Fairs or shopping at Giant Eagle, he seemed to know a friend everywhere his path took him. He was a man of habits, traditions, and unwavering affection for his family and friends. John was known for his warm heart, his endless stories, and his ability to make anyone feel like a lifelong friend.
John ensured that his daughters experienced the beauty and charm of their hometown. Together, they shared countless memories exploring the peninsula, strolling along Dobbins Landing and the Millcreek Mall, enjoying festivals at Frontier Park, and savoring lunches at Sara’s Diner - all while the timeless oldies on Froggy 94.7 played in the background during every car ride.
John will be forever remembered by his twin daughters Allison Duino of Raleigh NC; and Madison (Shane) Clark and grandson Noah Clark of Lemoore CA. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law Becky Duino, his nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. In addition to his mother Helen and father Bud, he was preceded in death by his brother James “Mic” Duino, and his uncle Russell Duino.
There will be a private celebration of life in Erie PA later this month.
In lieu of flowers, his daughters kindly ask that donations be made to the Presque Isle Partnership in John Duino's honor. The peninsula held a special place in John's heart, as it was where he and his daughters shared countless cherished moments together.
