Mr. John Thomas Edwards Jr., age 81 of Shelby, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 15, 2025.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda Ann (White) Edwards, three children, Tammy Edwards Whisnant of Forest City, NC, Danny Edwards and wife Deborah of Shelby, ,NC, and Denise Edwards Lail and husband Gary of Kings Mountain, NC, ,six grandchildren, Brandon Lee Edwards of Hawaii, Betsy Beason of Shelby, NC, Brittany Spivey and husband Charles of Raleigh, NC, Devin Lail of Kings Mountain NC, Michael Lail and wife Heather of Shelby, NC, and Shay Bumgarner of Canton, NC, five great grandchildren, Kaylee Beason, Karlee Beason, Aedan Lail, Ava Lail, and KJ Laye, a brother, Kenneth Edwards and wife Gloria of Shelby, NC, and a sister, Sherry Philbeck and husband Tom of Blacksburg, SC.
Born September 13, 1944, in Cleveland County, NC, John was the son of the late John Thomas Edwards Sr. and Margie Clark Edwards. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a faithful member of Elliott Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed fishing, singing, playing music, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, September 19th, 2025, at Cleveland Funeral Services conducted by Rev. Ronnie Kidd. A visitation will be held from 1:00pm – 2:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
