I worked with John at Allburn Florists for 6 years in the late 1960s and early 1970s as I worked my way through college at Behrend and Edinboro. It's strange the memories that come to mind upon hearing of John's passing. John was the first person I had a drink with in a bar. Besides working with him at Allburn Florist, John hired me several times to do some repairs at his house. I'm sure he could have easily found more experienced workmen but he knew I was struggling to get through college on my own and he was helping me out. That was the kind of person John was in life. My sincere condolences to Carolyn and all his family.
