John F. Enright

It was with much sadness that I learned of the passing of John Enright whose son, Paul, was my best friend from childhood into our teen years, and would one day with his lovely bride-to-be Joanne be my and Mary's Best Man and Maid of Honour at our wedding.

Simply known to me as Mr. and Mrs. Enright in the manner that children of my generation addressed our elders, Paul's mother and father always welcomed me into their home on Wheatsheaf Crescent and treated me as one of their own. Mr. Enright would later go on to pen for me a heartfelt letter of reference as I sought employment in Alberta in 1978.

Returning to Ontario, I regretfully did not maintain regular contact with Paul over the years as good friends should while always thinking of his parents with a wish to visit them again. Sadly, on Mr. Enright's passing that opportunity has been lost to me. Nor was I able to attend the funeral services to say goodbye as I was out of town. But I am bouyed by the memories of the most kind and warm-hearted people I have ever known.

My God grant the Enright family peace and strength in the days and weeks to come.

My heart is very heavy but I am eternally grateful for all the amazing memories I have of my "Uncle" John. He was my Dad's best friend for 75+ years. Their bond was indestructible. His laughter and his awesome sense of humour were second to none. God bless your beautiful soul, Uncle John. Xo
