I only met Richard and Joyce once and it was here at my home for lunch along with my friend, Elaine Steinbacher, from Concord, NC. It was a very memorable afternoon. What truly special people. And ever since I have felt that I entertained angels unaware. The world has lost a wonderful being. But we all know where he is. May God grant you comfort and peace. Diane Wilson

Mr. Strawhorn was a very special manager, friend and mentor over the past 28 years. He taught me so much about business and family and his guidance has been a cornerstone in my life. He encouraged and believed in me without waver, and looking back on our conversations over the last few years, so many times he would tell me I'm one of the good ones and that he was glad we had a number of good years together. I have no doubt he felt the same about so many others here at Mohawk. Truthfully, we were all blessed to cross his path and we will never forget him.
My favorite memory is his love for his beautiful bride; Joyce you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers always. May God give you strength and peace today and always.

Prayers and condolences to Joyce and the Strawhorn family. I have many fond memories from Dick's time at Mohawk Industries in Calhoun Georgia. He was a mentor and a friend and I am better having known him. Rest in peace my dear friend.

To the Strawhorn Family,
I am saddened to hear that Mr. Strawhorn has passed. I was blessed and privileged to have worked for him for well over 15 years, during which, I was fortunate to count him as a valued mentor and friend. While he always expected much, those of us who worked with, or for him, were eager to go the extra mile, whether we were asked or not, and no one went the extra mile more than he. I learned so much from Mr. Strawhorn, not just professionally, but valuable life lessons that I have been blessed to share with many that I too have been blessed to mentor over the years.
To Joyce, I still well remember that visit from you and Mr. Strawhorn to my office there in Eden years ago – it was just a friendly visit, not work driven, but just a visit to check in to see how I and my family were doing, the kind of visit that meant more than you could have known, given that he wasn’t working but was likely just up visiting in Eden during your vacation. That’s what friends do - priceless.
To All the family, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. I pray the Lord will give you peace and comfort during this challenging time. May God also bless and strengthen you in the days and weeks to come.

Mrs. Joyce and Family Members,
I extend Prayers and Sympathy to each of you! I only met Richard one time at a gospel singing event, but we were Facebook friends, and had wonderful conversations! He was always complimenting me on my son and family who attended Bethel UMC.
Richard was a fine Christian man who is now walking the streets of gold! Rest In Peace Richard! I will miss you......
