John Epton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barnes-Friederich & Pope Funeral Home - Midwest City on Sep. 17, 2024.
On Friday, September 13, 2024, John W. Epton passed at age 83.
John was born on December 18, 1940 in Gracemont, Oklahoma in a barn to Floyd and Grace Epton.
John, a Vietnam vet in Cam Rahn Bay, was a simple hardworking man who enjoyed being in nature often taking his children camping, fishing, and the willing to go hunt. Early on he lived a hard honest farm life and survived many hardships which reflected in his strong character and witty grim humor. He had many stories to tell like working fields picking cotton alongside his mom, also at a peanut factory, and being an avid mechanic.
He worked hard for everything he had. A few words of his wisdom were "if you want something done you got to do it yourself" and "you can't be everyone's best friend". He was strong provider for his family and took pride and care for everything he owned. He was retired from Tinker Air Force base, serving 30 years.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Grace Epton; loving wife, Sherry Epton; sisters, Janelle Mahaffey and Judy Miller; & brother, Bill Epton. He is survived by Westley & Christina Epton, Jana Beller, Robin Epton-Anlauf & Larry Anlauf, Tammy & Rodney Bullington, Tina Wyatt, and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are being held on Sunday September 22 at 1 pm at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home, located at 1820 S. Douglas Blvd Midwest City, OK 73130.
