John Evanchuk Obituary

Evanchuk, John
STILLWATER - John D. Evanchuk, 82, passed away, on April 20, 2025. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force after high school. John was a career law enforcement officer with the U.S. Department of Justice/Department of Homeland Security, stationed in Rousses Point, N.Y., Miami, Fla., Burlington, Vt., and Hartford, Conn. After retirement, he moved back to the Albany area, his birthplace, to be close to his family and childhood friends. John was predeceased by his parents, William and Anne Solowey Evanchuk; his brothers, Thomas (Susan) Evanchuk and William (Sharon) Evanchuk; and son, Michael (Annette) Collins. He leaves his wife, Carole; beloved children, Lisa (Kelly) Walters, Douglas Evanchuk; grandchildren, Landon, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Caitlyn, Brian, Jillian; and great-grandson, Weston. Also, his nephews, Mark (Jill) Evanchuk and Darren (Courtney) Evanchuk; and their children. Services will be held privately graveside at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Community Hospice, for their invaluable assistance and support to John. Chase-Smith Funeral Home, Mechanicville, N.Y., is handling arrangements.
