I had the privilege of serving with John in the Navy. He referred to himself as John Evans,"The Kid." He constantly reminded me of Philly being #1. After we graduated from our training at Great Lakes, we went different ways. Then on Sunday I was reading our South Dakota Firefighter and E.M.T. thoughts, where John's name appeared. It figures John would take this role on later in life and care for people. He was a friend and a memorable person in my life. We were friends 45 years ago, and always will be friends. "Fair winds and smooth sailing." Your family can be proud of a job well done.

Wendy, Tori, Angela, Ryan and Harley, The Colorado family send heartfelt love and hugs to you on this sorrowful and yet joyful day of honoring John. I am so glad that I was able to be a small part of John's life sharing some laughs and hugs and a few drinks here and there. I remember the time at the restaurant where I gave John the biggest hug and received one of his great smiles. I/We love you all. Ree

John, thank you for your service and your unwavering work as a Fire Fighter. Moreover, the memories of hanging out playing darts and a few cold ones. But, most of all, your friendship was most important.
Rest easy, John.
To his family, I send my condolences.
