John R. "Jack" Filling, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, in his hometown of Pomona, NJ, at the age of 88. Born on December 9, 1936, to the late Fred and Florence Filling, Jack's life was a testament to the enduring values of hard work and family. Jack attended Pomona School and Egg Harbor City High School Class of 1955. Upon graduation, he found his calling in the construction trades, joining the Lathers Union and Carpenters Local Union 623. His skillful hands and inventive mind were evident in every project he undertook. Jack proudly served in the US Army. He was also a dedicated life member of the Pomona Volunteer Fire Company No. 3. Jack was a man of many interests, with a passion for fishing, hunting, and gardening that he lovingly shared with his friends and family. He could often be found piecing together picture puzzles, a hobby that showcased his patience and attention to detail. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Faith Filling, with whom he shared a beautiful and loving partnership. Together, they raised their daughters, Lori Lamey (John) and Lynn Greco (Mike). Jack's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Master Sergeant John Riggs USAF (Jenna), Mary Riggs (Doug), Mark Greco (Stephanie), and Dr. Natalie Greenlee (Brent), his great-grandchildren, Liam, Landon, Jordan, Lillian, and Harper. He was predeceased by his brothers, Fred Filling, Jr., Donald Filling and brother-in-law James Colwell. He is survived by his sister, Doris Colwell, sister-in-law Doris Filling and many nieces and nephews.
A gathering will be held, Monday, November 10, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with a short service to follow at Wimberg Funeral Home, 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor City followed by interment at The Richard E. Squires Veterans Cemetery, 109 NJ-50, Mays Landing, NJ. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Pomona Volunteer Fire Co. No. 3, 225 W.
