John Fossen, 65, Minot died peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2024 in a Fargo hospital from Leukemia. His family was at his side.
John Dean Fossen was born on May 17, 1959 in Hettinger, ND to Gerald and Rosella (Lillehaug) Fossen. He was raised and educated in Hettinger and Lemmon, SD. As a young adult he and his brother, Robert, were members of a seismograph crew that traveled throughout the country.
John married Renee Lorntson on February 27, 1981 in Minot. They made their home at various places throughout the U.S. wherever the seismograph crew was stationed. Upon the arrival of their son Travis in 1986, they moved from Deadwood SD to Renee's hometown of Minot. John managed the Empire Motel and worked for Farroh Roof Truss Company for 20+ years prior to his retirement in 2021. Renee died May 11, 2021.
John especially enjoyed fishing, bowling, fireworks as well as tinkering and spending time with Travis.
John is survived by his son: Travis; siblings: Kerry (Becky) Fossen and Susan (Steve) Tucker; in-laws: Laura Fossen, Brenda St. Claire, Danny St. Claire and Theresa Marten and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Renee, siblings: Jerry & Robert Fossen and Jacque (Randy) Sargent and in-laws: Ronald and Patricia Lorntson.
Memorial Gathering: Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.
