John Thomas Fowler, a beloved minister and devoted family man, passed away peacefully at home October 26, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on July 22, 1943, in East St. Louis, Missouri, John dedicated his life to serving others and sharing his love for God through his ministry.
For many, John pastored Bibleway Full Gospel Church of DeSoto as well as several other churches, including Bibleway Full Gospel Lighthouse of Cadet. Most recently, he attended Pine Valley Full Gospel Church, where he continued to inspire and uplift those around him. Through his work with the Bible Way Association and his unwavering commitment to his faith, he touched countless lives, always bringing warmth and positivity to those he encountered.
John was known for his vibrant personality; he loved people and never met a stranger. His love for music was evident as he played his guitar and sang Gospel songs, bringing joy to gatherings and worship services alike. He cherished nature, often indulging in hunting and fishing, activities that brought him peace and happiness. John and his wife, Cathey "Katie" Fowler, enjoyed taking trips to Branson, where they attended the Country Gospel Music Association events, reflecting their shared passion for music and fellowship. John’s involvement extended beyond entertainment, as he served as a past board member of the association and was a member of the Crusaders.
An industrious soul, John was often found tinkering with something, embodying the spirit of never having idle hands. His legacy is one of hard work, faith, and love, creating a lasting impact on both his family and his church community.
John is survived by his loving wife, Cathey "Katie" Fowler; his children David & Teri Fowler, Tonya & Tommy Wippler, and Greg & Evelyn Peirce; brother, Ed & Norma Fowler; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a cherished church family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Fowler on July 12, 1998; his sons Russell Fowler, John Fowler, and William "Bill" Fowler; his sister Betty Fowler; infant twin siblings and his sister Evelyn Fowler (Vernon).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM at DeClue Family Funeral Home, located at 301 E High Street, Potosi, MO. Pastor Carl Brawley will officiate his service. Burial will follow at New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, MO. He will be remembered as a steadfast friend, a devoted minister, and a loving patriarch whose spirit will forever be felt through the lives he has touched. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
