John Frankenberg Obituary

John "Bob" R. Frankenberg, 93, of Walworth, WI, passed away on February 17, 2024. Born October 4, 1930, in Rockford, the son of John C. and Beatrice C. (England) Frankenberg. Graduate of West High School and Iowa State University. Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. Bob married Anna "Ann" M. VanOsdol on October 5, 1957 at Christ United Methodist Church. Together they were married 66 wonderful years; he doted on Ann like a princess. Bob worked as a mechanical engineer in the Methods and Tool Design department at Woodward Governor, designing aircraft and ship controls. During this time with Woodward, Bob and Ann lived and worked in Japan for three years beginning in 1962. Bob enjoyed traveling all over the U.S., Japan, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. He also enjoyed photography, reading and camping. Bob had the gentlest soul and was the smartest and kindest man you knew. He was so proud of his children and grandson.
Survived by his wife, Ann; daughters, Susan (Lyle Konigsberg) Frankenberg of Champaign, IL and Linda Frankenberg of Walworth, WI; grandson, Iain (Christina Elling) Konigsberg; and nieces, Gayle (Harlan) Boos and Juanita (Greg) Evans.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Rd., Rockford with Pastor Jane Bradford officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Private burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or Stars & Stripes Honor Flight, PO BOX 867, Menomonee Falls, WI 53052. To share a memory or condolence, please visit olsonfh.com
